1. Studying the pathways by which HIV may signal through the CD4 receptor and associated co-receptors CXCR4 and CCR5 to induce apoptosis in infected and non-infected CD4+ T lymphocytes.
2. Investigating novel ways in which HIV 1 protease may alter normal cell signaling and induce apoptosis through the abnormal cleavage of the proapoptotic protein Caspase 8.
3. Investigating the affects of TNF related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) on normal as well as HIV infected cells and determining whether HIV infected cells produce functional TRAIL.
4. Studying the affects of protease inhibitors as therapy in other diseases and conditions.
5. Involved in CMV clinical trials.
