Biostatistics Shared Resource V. Shane Pankratz, Ph.D. Mayo Clinic Cancer Center's research ranges from the bench to the bedside and across populations; encompassing basic science, clinical trials, epidemiologic research, and other translational and educational research. The Biostatistics Shared Resource of Mayo Clinic Cancer Center (MCCC) has provided expert statistical collaboration with MCCC investigators conducting this research for over 30 years. The purpose of the resource is to provide statistical and biomathematical collaboration for the development and conduct of peer-reviewed cancer research generated by investigators in the Cancer Center. The expertise available through this core is broad-based. It includes statistical expertise used in the support of clinical trials, epidemiological studies - including those involving genetic and molecular epidemiology, high dimensional data analysis - including gene-chip microarray and proteomics, and quality of life studies. It also provides biomathematics expertise in mathematical aspects of imaging, data processing and analysis, and modeling. Daniel J. Sargent, Ph.D. Through long-standing collaborations with MCCC Disease Oriented Groups, Research Programs and other research initiatives, many members of the resource have developed extensive disease-specific knowledge, which often serves as the basis for establishing new collaborative partnerships between Biostatistics Shared Resource members and MCCC investigators. Members are physically located at each of the three MCCC locations (Phoenix/Scottsdale, Ariz., Jacksonville, Fla., and Rochester, Minn.), further facilitating MCCC-wide collaboration. |
