PATIENT SATISFACTIONOptimizing patient satisfaction is one of Mayo Clinic's highest strategic priorities. The Department of Family Medicine routinely assesses patient satisfaction in its various practice innovations. Patient satisfaction is monitored for those patients who receive Virtual Consults, for patients who are involved in our chronic disease management programs, and for all patients who receive services from us either in the clinics or in the hospital. Recent research from our department has found a strong connection between patient empowerment, satisfaction, and self-rated overall health. We have included self-rated health in satisfaction surveys so that we can assess how patients feel about their own health. This is obviously a bottom-line issue for patients, though it is rarely studied in medical clinics around the nation and the world. |
