SUMMARY

The Mayo Cancer Genetic Epidemiology Training Program is a postdoctoral program funded through a training grant from the National Cancer Institute. Its goal is to develop a new cadre of scientists capable of combining laboratory-based genetics and observational epidemiologic methods for addressing cancer-related health issues, including prevention, detection, therapy and control. The program provides up to three years of training experience for MDs and PhDs, consisting of didactic coursework and structured mentoring by multiple participation faculty (minimum of two faculty per trainee, each from a different discipline). Fellows will learn to develop a research program geared toward an independent research career.
